ECONOMIC
The Tennessee League of the South is working to help communities develop viable economies. While globalization has helped the bottom-line of mega-businesses and multi-national corporations, it has done little to help the average Tennessee family. We are of the conviction that families working together in their local communities can make the difference between living full lives and just surviving.

One area of the League’s concern is sustainable agriculture. Instead of depending on foodstuffs being trucked in from a thousand or more miles away, we need to know the farmer who grows our food. There is no need for bureaucratic regulation when our neighbours are the ones providing the bounty on our tables.
Economists like to throw around terms like “absolute advantage,” “opportunity cost,” and “comparative advantage” when promoting a global economy, but those same ideas are applicable to a local economy. Every community has local craftsmen (and women) and skilled tradesmen. Each individual in our communities has gifted by God in different ways. Each man, woman, and child has talents and abilities which make them unique and valuable to the whole community.
The Cultural, Social, Economic and Political areas of our lives many times are interwoven, so some of the references and articles on this website will overlap.
